Creative Marriage Proposal Tips: Success Promised!

By Heather Nicoletti

A marriage proposal is one of the most significant events of a couple's relationship, and knowing different romantic ways to propose can make it a treasured moment that will be long remembered and appreciated.

Many things can set up a romantic mood - candlelight, long-stemmed roses, a decadent gourmet meal - but a truly romantic proposal will follow the three S's of romance: sincerity, sensitivity, and sacredness. Sensitivity is critical when considering romantic ways to propose. Asking for a girl's hand in marriage in front of her gathered family and friends may seem romantic at first, but if she is shy and quiet, such a public event may not be sensitive to the type of proposal she would prefer.

For a proposal to be romantic, it must first be sincere. Asking someone to spend the rest of their lives in a committed, monogamous relationship is no lighthearted matter, and the individual asking the critical question should fully understand just what they're asking for. To be sincere means to understand the good times and the bad, to be committed to the idea of "till death do us part," and to be willing to work together as a partnership no matter what obstacles may arise during the lifetime of the relationship.

Dramatic: if you like to leave your finger mark on the things you do, if you know you have a strong personal style in the way you do things, you are probably seeking an original way to propose. Including a band while having dinner at a restaurant, hanging signs up in noticeable places as on buses or roof tops, dressing up at Halloween - these ideas might be the perfect way for you to propose.

Extreme: this scene is ideal for those who love action. One way to propose is while hiking in the mountains, skiing, canoeing or while flying in an airplane. This ensures that your marriage proposal will be unforgettable and probably talked of many times for years to come in your shared future.
